Use OutSystems to create new Office addins instead of VBA

Hi,

Microsoft has announced that the VBA addins for all Office applications will eventually be replaced with the new Office Add-ins based on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to extend and interact with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Project.

Currently there is a switch in Outlook at the top right to go to the "New Outlook". If selected, you will end up with an Outlook version that does not support VBA anymore. Alt+F11 doesn't show the development screen anymore. So all custom made addins for Excel, Word, Outlook will have to be replaced.

So in addition to creating webapps and mobile apps, it would be awesome to be able to create Office Addins using OutSystems. What do you think?

Thanks.

I don't think this will be possible. I don't know anything about addins for Office, but I'm pretty sure that, like VBA, this will be embedded inside the Office apps, and not some external HTML/CSS/JavaScript that runs on a different server.

Thank you for your reply, however at  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/overview/office-add-ins you can see the future of Office addins.
