[Custom Input Masks] Static character in place of placeholders

Hello all, I am using Custom Input Masks in my application, but I am having difficulty on using character '9' or 'a' as static character. I used \\9 and \\a to mark them as static, but it does not work anymore because they still show as placeholder for me to type a value. Does anyone know any updates on this?
