Hi @OJ JALLOW

When the widget tree in OutSystems Service Studio becomes unresponsive or fails to function correctly, it can indeed be a significant issue, especially when developing complex applications. Here are some potential solutions and troubleshooting steps to help resolve the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Restart Service Studio:

    • Close Service Studio and restart it. Sometimes, the widget tree may become unresponsive due to a temporary glitch or memory issue.
  2. Check for Large Screens or Complex Structures:

    • If your screen has a very large number of widgets or a deeply nested structure, this could slow down or freeze the widget tree.
    • Try to simplify the structure temporarily by hiding or collapsing some containers in the screen.
  3. Clear Service Studio Cache:

    • Service Studio's cache might be corrupted, causing it to behave unexpectedly.
    • To clear the cache, navigate to:
      • Windows: C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Local\OutSystems\
      • Delete the contents of the Service Studio folder and restart Service Studio.
  4. Check for Infinite Loops or Heavy Operations:

    • Ensure that there are no infinite loops or heavy operations (e.g., complex expressions, many queries) being executed during the design phase.
  5. Upgrade Service Studio:

    • Make sure you are using the latest version of Service Studio. Bugs and performance issues are often resolved in newer releases.
    • If you are not on the latest version, download and install it from the OutSystems website.
  6. Check Module Size:

    • Large modules can cause performance issues. Check the size of your module and, if necessary, consider splitting it into smaller modules.
  7. Verify System Resources:

    • Ensure that your computer has enough memory and CPU resources available. The unresponsive behavior might be due to resource constraints.
  8. Inspect Error Logs:

    • Go to the Service Center -> Monitoring -> Errors and check for any errors that might be related to your module or application.
  9. Disable Debug Mode:

    • If you are debugging, try turning off debug mode to see if the widget tree becomes responsive.
  10. Reinstall Service Studio:

    • If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling Service Studio. This can resolve any underlying issues with the installation.
  11. Inspect Module for Corruption:

    • Open a new or different module to see if the issue persists. If the widget tree works fine in other modules, your current module might be corrupted.
    • You can try exporting and then re-importing the module to see if it resolves the issue.

Hi @OJ JALLOW,

To fix the unresponsive Widget Tree tab, try the following:

  1. Clear your browser cache and restart Service Studio.
  2. Ensure you’re using the latest version of Service Studio.
  3. Go to View > Reset Layout to reset the UI.
  4. Check if your system has enough resources (memory/CPU), as large applications can slow it down.
  5. If the issue persists, reinstall Service Studio to fix any installation problems.

Hope this resolves your issue!
