About OutSystems System Requirements

https://success.outsystems.com/ja-jp/documentation/11/setup_outsystems_infrastructure_and_platform/setting_up_outsystems/outsystems_system_requirements/

It says that Developer Edition and Express Edition (all versions) of Microsoft SQL Server are not supported. Could you please tell me the reason?

When I try to connect to Express Edition with Administration-Database Connections, I get an error. Is it because it is not supported?

Error content:

① Connection string test failed. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Make sure that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.

② A connection to the server was successfully established, but an error occurred during the login process. There is a problem with SSL authentication.

This is a translation from Japanese to English using Google Translate, so it may not be accurate, but please forgive me.

Hi,
Let me add 2 cents for clarity.
The fact that this edition is unsupported implies that troubleshooting falls outside of OutSystems' support responsibilities.
Furthermore, even if you were to succeed in connecting, you would still be in an unsupported scenario and going against OutSystems' recommendations.

Hi,

In the past the express edition was supported, but that is already some years ago (believe since September 2021). This change was made because SQL Server Express has limitations in terms of performance and scalability.

So, if you try to connect to it and get an error, it is because of that, it is no longer supported.

Regards,

Daniel

hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I understand.

I will give up on connecting to the SQL Server Express Edition database.

I am looking for other ways to connect to a free on-premise database.

I would be grateful if you could let me know if you have any information.

Thank you in advance.
