Paginate "Open other version" list

Service Studio
On our radar

It's too painfull when you have to open the list of previous version for an espace when you know there are thousands of previous versions. I know we can always delete previous versions, but improving that screen would help a lot. Not only pagination, but also improving search filters.

Hey João,

How will pagination help in this scenario? Why is it painful? A lot of information, performance?

Cheers,

Performance! It takes too long to grab all the versions of the main espaces on a big project, with lots of developers. It could be a lazy loading instead of pagination.

Thing is: When I need to open previous versions, one normally goes first on the last ones.

Got it, thanks a lot for the idea ;)

Merged this idea with '"Open other version" should be fast and have filters.' (created on 20 Sep 2018 08:32:33 by Mykola (Nick) Tkachenko)

Right no when there are thousands of versions in "Open other version" dialog it become slow as it could be :(  scrolling through version is pain. It should be at least filter bu date or developer. Also Column "Changed" has no reason to be so tiny comparing to "published" that only has "yes" on it.  Pagination would solve also lots of performance issues I guess.

I was also thinking to have the same feature for a long time.

Merged this idea with 'Optimize the "Open other version" dialog' (created on 01 Dec 2018 22:20:03 by Caio Santana Magalhães)

When an eSpace reaches 2k+ versions, the "Open other version" dialog freezes so bad it basically renders Service Studio unusable.

Please fix whatever is misbehaving in this dialog so we can use it in big projects instead of having to resort to downloading the file from Service Center. :-)

I agree with this.

However, I also think you should clean up the old modules, because the changes are that they are used (the first 2000 for example) are very slim

I don’t think cleaning old eSpace versions should be considered as a solution.

In my case, for example, I don’t have managing responsabilities over that environment so I can’t just go around and clean eSpaces without permission.

Hey Caio,

This is not a "hang" but the way this is build it definitely takes a lot of time to render. The way we are thinking about addressing this is by introducing pagination in this dialog, thus significantly reducing the payload and the time to render the page.

We will have news soon.

Thanks for your feedback!
