P11 Bring back "Cancel" for 1-Click Publish

In poor connection circumstances it's desperate to see never ending process. So I want to cancel it and continue instead.....

One of the case is poor internet connection. So once I clicked I must wait until it time out. I want to cancel it rather than waiting.

Another case  would be when you accidentally click it and you just realize wait I want to add some more work to publish. Again you cannot cancel it and must wait until it finish.

There is even a glitch to it

1. You click 1-publish button. It's uploading and compiling....

2. You change something while publishing.

It should when finish show a green publish button again because you changed something while publishing. Now in P11 it doesn't show the green publish button but the blue launch button. So your changes are not saved!

Not sure I understand your point here. How does cancelling 1CP solve the timeout due to network latency? You do want to 1CP right? How do you work around this? Keep trying until it succeeds or try through Service Center? 

On a side note, regardless of the time 1CP may take, it is not a blocking operation in Service Studio - so you should be able to keep working while 1CP is progressing.

Hmm true it won't solve the network problem.....Probably it just around about developer habits (I personally tend to wait it finishes then continue) and maybe some psychological effects. And also please try the glitch too.

In fact it is not only about habit as I mentioned earlier.... it is wasted of time waiting it times out... very frustrating...

I often make small test cases or show a demo or a small prototype while publishing and poor connection destroy it all..make this a stopper you cannot continue and let the customers wait as well.

Sometimes it is worse when you are in personal cloud sometimes it is not the connection sometimes it is the server slow performance that makes it waits. I want to cancel and usually trying to republish would do it faster.

If I can stop probably I had a chance to switch to a better connection and at least there is no waiting while we can do another act

With P11 it is no longer possible to abort the publish, can you please add it back :-)

Sometimes we publish the code changes from Service Studio and during publish we spot something which was missed (i.e removing unused dependencies, refreshing the references etc), to correct the small mistake we have to publish those missed tiny changes again, which increases the published version and also increases one more record in the table where we store previously stored versions and in turn, it increases the table size.

Although, I agree that a developer should make sure that all the required changes should be in place (including aforementioned tiny changes) and those published versions can be deleted using available tools, but it would be better, if there is an option to abort or stop publish to make a developers life easier.

There should be a Stop Publish button available to stop the publishing in the middle in case we forget to add something in the code, now we have to wait until the publish completed and then need to make those changes.

It would be great if we can have this option in service studio. It was there earlier i guess.

Hi All,

I support the idea shared by Miguel and the link to his idea is https://www.outsystems.com/ideas/7466/service-center-button-to-cancel-a-solution-publishing. 
I want to suggest the similar idea for Service Studio as well. We should have Cancel Publish button on service studio window. Cancel button can be enabled till Uploading & Compiling stage and can disable it after Deploying stage of publish as it would be difficult to roll back the code after it gets Deployed to IIS.

Hi Team,

I observed that OS remove functionality to stop publishing in the middle of it. We have in OS 10, I think it is imp if someone by mistake click on one click publish and he want to stop it then we have no stop button in OS11.

Agree, no need to wait until the publish complete especially when your internet speed is slow.

Add a stop publishing button, in case we notice something wrong and we want to cancel. It would save developer time and bad submitions to servers!

countless number of times I wished that stopping a publish was not removed. It's very dangerous when we do mistakenly modify and publish in higher environment.

While working with shared module its taking too much time to publish. Sometimes we need to cancel it immediately for making some changes in code. But its not possible to cancel it when its in progress. So thats why there should be cancel icon or button beside the 1 CLICK PUBLISH to cancel it.

If you need t cancel it immediately, you did not need to press the 1CP button in the first place.

Anyhow this is idea already exists a long time so I will merge yours into the original version.

Hi,

It happens sometimes that you publish and it keeps on rotating for more than 3-4 minutes and you have to wait till it automatically times out.

Instead we can have manual abort in case if its taking too long then one can abort and publish again.

Automatically cancel a current "publish" if we change something in the module, because we will need to publish again.

This would also avoid the creation of unnecessary versions.
