Introducing the OutSystems Community BarCamps
Discussion
Announcement
Hi everyone!
We've been
having very positive feedback
on the
community BarCamp
concept so I think it deserves some more breathing (and breading) room.
So... What's a BarCamp?
A
Barcamp
is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction between attendees.
Read on to learn what a BarCamp is all about (information compiled
from
these
sources
).
The Rules of a BarCamp
You do talk about BarCamp.
You do blog about BarCamp.
If you want to present, you must write your topic and name in a presentation slot.
Only three word intros.
As many presentations at a time as facilities allow for.
No pre-scheduled presentations, no tourists.
Presentations will go on as long as they have to or until they run into another presentation slot.
If this is your first time at BarCamp, you HAVE to present. (Ok, you don't really HAVE to, but try to find someone to present with, or at least ask questions and be an interactive participant.)
BarCamp Basics
Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is
welcome and invited to join
;
When you come, be prepared to
share with BarCampers
.
Attendees must be prepared to give a demo, lead a session, help others setting up their own presentations or simply contribute to the conversation
- no tourists allowed. :)
When you leave, be prepared to
share with the world
.
Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present (
SlideShare
or
Prezi
are perfect for this).
All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. The people
present at the event
will select the demos or presentations
they
want to see.
How is the event organized?
When you arrive, go to the pre-registration table, where you can claim your BarCamper nametag. Make your way into the event area where you'll find some morning energizing coffee and where you can start mingling with the other attendees.
When everyone settles down we'll go around the room and introduce ourselves with
three words
to describe what we're passionate about (or want to talk about). There will also be some announcements. After this, people who intend to lead a session will add their session info to an empty schedule grid (which may be moved around early on based on other's interests). If you see a session you're interested in, go to it.
Small breaks / session rescheduling as required.
Now for the good part!
You are free to create your own OutSystems Community BarCamps!
Just
create a new discussion
on the forums
to let everyone know about the event and ping us at

All the best!
