Which Certification to take first Tech Lead or Architecture Specialist.

Hi everyone,
Hope you all are doing good.

I am seeking your guidance regarding an important decision in my professional development. I am currently considering two potential certifications to pursue: the Tech Lead certification and the Architecture Specialist certification. I would greatly appreciate your insight into which certification would be more beneficial for me to pursue first.

Thanks!

On that forum they don't discuss these two.

Hi @Wahaj Adil ,

You want to strengthen your technical foundation and build expertise in designing scalable modular apps  then the Architecture Specialist certification is good to start. It focuses on applying the Architecture Canvas understanding design patterns and using tools like Discovery and Architecture Dashboard. This knowledge is for anyone looking to evolve into senior technical roles or deliver high quality enterprise solutions.

if you are already leading teams and handling project planning or mentoring developers then the Tech Lead certification may be the right move. It prepares you for a leadership role covering topics like infrastructure deployments and agile best practices.

I think you can start with Architecture Specialist if you’re still sharp your technical depth and architectural thinking. It will naturally make your transition into a Tech Lead role more solid and impactful.

Thanks,

Hi @Wahaj Adil ,

If you’re new to leadership or just growing into senior responsibilities, start with the Tech Lead certification. It will give you practical tools and leadership strategies to manage teams and projects effectively, which is a natural stepping stone toward architecture-level responsibilities.

Once you’ve got that foundation and some real-world experience under your belt, then go for the Architecture Specialist—it’ll be more impactful with that context.

Thanks

Architecture Specialist contribute a step for achieving expert developer certificate, and architecture is the core of an application. In my opinion, you should take the Architecture Specialist.

Hello.

That answer differs depending on who is asking.

You should have your certifications visible on your profile to help us on knowing your path.

From LinkedIn -if that is updated - I see you have Associate (11), Associate (ODC) and Mobile.

I would say you need Web Developer first. If you do it for O11 plus the ODC path, you get the ODC version for free.

Then, Architecture O11 or ODC depending on what you are using seems the logical path. That way you can understand how it works.

Tech Lead you can do later on. But study at the same time for Delivery and Dev Ops as all 3 are quite similar and is easier to study all in a row than one every year.
