Big Sur (macOS) and the Service Studio Technical Preview

Hello.

Earlier this month, Apple released the Big Sur operating system for Mac, and it is available for download on many of its computers.

What does this mean?

This announcement impacts the OutSystems Service Studio Technical Preview version for macOS. That technical preview is available for the Catalina version of the macOS operating system. If you have this version running on your computer, you can use it.

However, if you have a Mac with Big Sur, you will not be able to use the technical preview.

What are the options?

You have two options:

  • Use a virtual machine to set up the Windows version of Service Studio on your Mac computer.
  • Sign up for the early access program for the new and enhanced version of Service Studio, which will be available in 2021.

And you can choose both.

Why are we doing this?

We are in the process of updating Service Studio, We want our users and community to have the best experience in our Service Studio for macOS, the new release will revamp how we take advantage of all relevant Mac capabilities going forward.

Rather than deliver an upgraded version of the technical preview, we want to concentrate all our energy on the latest release of Service Studio. Look for more news about that soon.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Kind regards,

Tercio

Sign up for the early access program can be found here:

I'd suggest to update the Personal Environment page to state that the technical preview only works for Catalina, at the moment.

Daniel
