Hello everyone,
The first edition of Neo’s Odyssey, the OutSystems coding challenge for the Community, has officially ended. I know, I know… Conflicting emotions right now 🥲
We considered it a success, and we wanted to share a wrap-up of the challenge:
More than 200 people joined our Discord server
29 MVPs and Champions volunteered as Mentors
60 apps were submitted to Forge
Around 90 downloads in total, meaning people were trying out each others applications
8 livestreams completing the daily quests
Since this is our first try at a coding challenge, your feedback is really important to ensure future editions are even better adjusted to how the OutSystems Community wants to participate in this type of coding challenge.
This is what we’ve learned from the feedback survey so far:
About the participants:
Majority of participants have less than 3 years of experience with OutSystems and started completing challenges in the first week of Neo’s Odyssey.
About the challenges:
The challenges were clear to understand, the cadence/quantity was a bit too much and the difficulty could be toned down as well.
About Neo’s Odyssey:
The main reason to not complete the challenges was due to time constraints and too many challenges.
A few suggestions for the future include having fewer challenges and lower cadence, having separate challenges for beginners, and releasing all the challenges at once.
If you have a different perspective or have any improvements, you can still submit your feedback here: https://forms.gle/QA7dWmGLBjW2TEZZ6
With all that said, thank you to everyone who participated. Be it by mentoring, completing the challenges or hanging around on Discord to chat. You were part of the first ever OutSystems Coding Challenge.
Happy New Year!

Happy new year! It was awesome idea! Maybe next time try to approach it more like a game jams are usually done:1 topic for the jam, then some days to complete it:)
