I am not a newbie (15+ years) in SW development. I am looking for a low-code platform that will help me build my new B2C project.
I read about OutSystems being the best platform.
But if I am not wrong, I am looking at $36,000 + unclear sum for each user (I realistically expect 10k users - in my app's free tier that is).
$3k per month alone is not a huge deal, granted - with something like Oracle APEX running in containers + DBaaS, the infra & platform would be a few hundred, but still - some hassle of setting it up and maintaining it. Well, then again, probably still better given the visibility into the actual limits I am dealing with and zero per-user costs..
But paying per user is just a big no-no for a B2C project.
Is there maybe some alternative pricing model available? And what can one expect in performance? Will my $3k/month hosted app work for a few thousand concurrent users?
I suggest you to go through the 'Frequently asked questions' section of OutSystems Pricing . Pricing is primarily decided by Application Objects and the end users. These will give you a fair idea about how the licensing works.
I am not sure any one would give you an exact pricing in this forum but you need to reach out to OutSystems Sales office in your region to get an exact quote.
Coming to scalability, platform is ready for scalability but it also depends on the quality of the code that runs on it.
Hi Lukas Korous
Pricing is high for outsystems
For Small businesses 2 environment pipeleine may be very helpful. Outsystems is lowcode tool provides all features and capabilities as java on .net offers
But any outsysrtems app comes with lot of cloud base features and consumes lot of distributed infrastructure.
If Outsystems team can have some solution for direct small businesses, example shared server, will boost usage of Outsystems
Hi Lukas,
The best way forward is talk to an outsystems sales representatitve. There are many companies thst have profitable B2C applications built with outsysyems.
The community can share their knowledge, but we cannot negotiate a license for you. You need need to negotiate for you external users a good pice. The more.users you need the cheaper thr price.per user will be.

Daniel
