Hello, I would like to suggest about sending email to the poster of a post on forums that doesn't get any answer for a period of time for example 2 weeks. This email may suggest for the poster to either edit his post and explain his issue in more details that may help community members to understand the issue more and contribute for a solution, or if he got his issue solved he may add answer to his post about how he was able to fix it. Otherwise this post can be closed automatically after 2 more weeks.

Customizable Column Updates in OutSystems Entity Actions
Created on 27 Nov 2024
Deepak M
4
Currently, entity actions in OutSystems update all columns of a record, even when only specific attributes need to be modified. It would be highly beneficial to introduce an entity action that allows updating selected columns only, similar to an SQL UPDATE statement. For instance, if I need to update only a user's mobile number, I should be able to pass the user ID and the new mobile number alone, without requiring the entire record. This approach would: Simplify the implementation. Improve performance by avoiding unnecessary updates to other attributes.

Add “Improvements” tab in forge components
Created on 17 Oct 2025
Dinesh Murugan
2
Currently, the Forge component pages have tabs like Overview, Reviews, Versions, Documentation, and Support. Adding an “Improvements” tab would allow developers to share enhancement ideas, suggestions, and feature requests directly with the component creators. This will help Forge makers understand what the community needs most, plan better updates, and evolve their components into more complete, community-driven solutions

Covidify - the vírus you do not want to catch
Created on 16 Mar 2020

basically we would like to create an app to add to your ‘network’ the persons who crossed in the street. You would only see their nicknames and send messages if the persons allow you to.we would then have a network of persons whom have been near you. If you have covid you can mark your self as infected and all the persons near you in the last 10 days will be notified to be in quarantine, avoiding to contagious another persons.the set as infected person could be in a system as two factor authentication, sending the approval to a specified email or number.this is a first approach, we can discuss further details.this app will likely be much more of a use when we are at the stabilized phase of the corona virus spread.Using the location add on from forge. We have started by using the mobile development and I encountered some issues when setting up my developer account for Apple.kind regards,

Comprehensive Documentation/Best Practices for handling null values in API and In DB
Created on 01 Feb 2024
Karen McCarthy
6
OutSystems' support for null values has been a topic since at least 2010. (See https://www.outsystems.com/ideas/213/null-values/ ) Since OutSystems has not provided a solution to this problem, they should at least provide comprehensive documentation, best practices and forge examples for handling nulls. Documentation for handling nulls for both APIs (integrating with external systems) and Databases should be provided. OutSystems' implementation of nulls can impact OutSystems applications significantly . Proper handling will reflect positively on the OutSystems platform. Improper handling will reflect poorly on the OutSystems Platform and will limit the use of OutSystems for more technical applications. If OutSystems chooses to provide this much needed documentation and needs input or review, I would be happy to help. Please contact me. Thanks to all who have posted solutions in the forums. Thanks OutSystems for a forum where we can make requests, share solutions and ideas.

Remove Links to Inaccessible Documents
Created on 29 Oct 2024

On OutSystems website there are certain documents to which normal users don't have access. For instance the ODC One Shot Migration document. I understand there must be genuine reasons for not making the content public, however, in that case I would expect the navigation or embedded links also be hidden from users who don't have access. This would help to avoid unnecessary confusion or any assumptions being made.

Local storage - Allow to create indexes
Created on 29 Mar 2017
João Almeida

Currently Local storage only allows one index: the primary key auto generated by the database. If you need to store a larger amount of data you can start to have performance issues, because there's no way to create indexes to optimize the searches.

Feature Enhancement Proposal for Efficient Structure Handling in OutSystems
Created on 06 Sep 2024
Shubham Shrivastava
5
Hi Team, OutSystems currently handles data types such as Identifier, Text, Date, Binary, and Lists effectively. However, I’d like to propose an enhancement to improve how we manage structures. Current Challenges: Checking Structure Emptiness: We currently need to verify each attribute of a structure individually to determine if it’s empty. Setting Fields to Null: Manually setting each attribute to null to represent an empty structure can be cumbersome, especially when dealing with complex structures. Proposed Enhancements: IsEmpty Property for Structures: Similar to the IsEmpty property for lists, structures could have an IsEmpty property to easily check if all attributes are uninitialized or contain null values. Set Structure to Empty/Null: Instead of manually assigning null to every attribute, there should be a built-in feature that allows the entire structure to be set to an empty state in one step—similar to how NullIdentifier works for identifiers. These enhancements would streamline structure handling and improve development efficiency, particularly when dealing with large or complex data structures. Looking forward to your thoughts!

All of the above are valid HTML elements and aren't allowed by the platform. Can these be made valid options?
