Cleaning system data
Question

Hi all,

My database is running out of space and i want to clear some space by deleting systems data and also deleting entities that i deleted in my IDE.

I found on the forums some ways to free up space such as DB cleaner and DB auto maintainer but i am not really sure how to use them. I tried using the timers from DB auto maintainer to delete logs but my system data space did not decrease. I also found the documentation below, but I do not really understand it? Is this another module or something i want to do in my application?

https://success.outsystems.com/Documentation/11/Reference/OutSystems_APIs/DbCleaner_API

And if I still cannot free up any space, would creating another personal environment be a wise idea? Will the database space be completely new? (so i will have another 2 GB of space).

Hi Jolene,

First thing you should try to clean up the data is deleting old unused version of your applications. Here you can find comlete document of how to do it.

https://success.outsystems.com/Support/Personal_Environment/Manage_the_database_space_of_your_personal_environment

If you database already full then you will not be able to install db cleaner or other forge components so using them is something you can't even try. So if after clearing data using above method you still want to clear more data then you should go with these components

You can follow db cleaner forge documentation tab to know how to use it. Here is the ink for your reference

https://www.outsystems.com/forge/Component_Documentation.aspx?ProjectId=423&ProjectName=dbcleaner

If you are not even able to open service center because of this memory issue then only option you have is to generate a support ticket.

For new environments yes it will be fresh and you get fresh 2GB but for that you have to register on outsystems with another email address. You can not have two personal environments in same OutSystems account.

Hi Jolene,

DB cleaner below forge component is very simple and easy to use.

https://www.outsystems.com/forge/component-overview/423/dbcleaner

You only need to install it and select the weeks and enter 1 or 2 value depend upon you and click the delete all button. And you have to wait. After few minutes you can check your free space.

Hi,

I tried deleting older versions of my applications using DB cleaner, however there are a few issues.

1) I could not delete all of the database entities. An error of object reference keep appearing and i do not know why as that entity has already been deleted from my module.

2) After deleting a few older versions of my application, the "database size table" in the DB cleaner shows both the total space and space available decreasing. However, my unused space remains the same. And when i checked my lifetime, my system data still uses the same amount of space (it did not decrease at all).

What else can i try to decrease my system data size?

Hi,

Update: I managed to free up space in my database using DB cleaner. I dont know why at first my system data did not decrease but i think that process needed some time. Because after i deleted the old versions of my applications, and after 12 hours, the system data then decreased in lifetime. Thanks for your help, i managed to decrease my database from using 137% at first to 25%.

Hi Jolene,

Yes after deleting the stuff it takes some time to reflact this in lifetime. Now because you have good amout of space I hope environment is working fine for you.
