SRS Distribution has developed a portfolio of more than 90 internal business applications with OutSystems that support pricing, rebates, acquisitions, operations, and other key business functions. These applications help automate workflows, improve collaboration, increase visibility, and reduce manual effort across the organization.
As an early adopter of OutSystems AI-assisted development capabilities, SRS has developed four applications using Mentor, including solutions for time tracking, event management, workflow automation, and other operational needs.

Supporting growth through standardized processes and scalable applications
SRS Distribution operates a nationwide network of more than 1,000 locations serving professional contractors across multiple specialty trade verticals, including roofing, pool, landscaping, HVAC, and interior building products, in the United States. The company is a subsidiary of The Home Depot.
SRS Distribution has grown significantly through acquisitions. As new businesses are integrated, teams must align processes, workflows, and operational practices while supporting the unique needs of different business units.
This pace of growth creates an ongoing need for scalable business applications that can support pricing workflows, rebate management, operational processes, and other critical business functions across a nationwide organization. At the same time, field teams require efficient approval processes, visibility into business activities, and tools that help reduce manual effort and administrative overhead.
Like many organizations, SRS also relied on a variety of manual and paper-based processes for certain business activities, creating opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and visibility through digital solutions.

A connected portfolio of pricing, rebate, and business applications
SRS’s IT team built a coordinated suite of applications on OutSystems that support pricing workflows and enforce audit and approval processes. These applications integrate with existing enterprise systems to provide visibility into pricing-related activities and support a controlled lifecycle from request through review, approval, and system updates.
The portfolio expanded into adjacent business processes as the team identified additional opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort. For example, a rebate management application digitizes the rebate process through electronic workflows and e-signature integration. An item onboarding application helps teams manage product activation and ecommerce enablement activities, while a custom rules engine supports the efficient onboarding of large volumes of items under tight timelines. Additional applications automate the creation, routing, approval, and storage of business documents and forms, replacing previously manual processes.
Building a time tracker in two weeks with OutSystems
As SRS explored ways to further enhance developer productivity and accelerate application delivery, the team evaluated several AI-assisted development tools and capabilities, including OutSystems AI-assisted development features. They found that these capabilities aligned well with SRS's governance, architecture, and enterprise development standards while helping streamline the software development process.
By combining OutSystems with AI-assisted development capabilities, developers were able to focus more of their time on application design, architecture, and business requirements rather than repetitive development tasks.
“Developers can spend more time focusing on architecture and business logic instead of repetitive coding tasks,” explained Benitez.
One example was a time-tracking application that progressed from concept to production in a matter of weeks. Following that success, the team leveraged AI-assisted development capabilities in three additional internal applications supporting field operations, customer hierarchy management, and finance-related processes.
"We can build a front end and initial business logic to show a stakeholder in just a few days, whereas before it would have taken us weeks. That helps us accelerate feedback, refine requirements earlier, and move through the development process more efficiently."
Streamlined operations and accelerated application delivery
The OutSystems application portfolio has become an important part of SRS's internal business operations, helping teams manage high volumes of work through standardized workflows, automation, and improved visibility.
The pricing application portfolio processes thousands of price change records per month. The pricing team also completed 90+ major import jobs covering millions of items and price group records through the platform.
The rebate management portfolio processed thousands of rebate requests through digital workflows, providing improved visibility and a more streamlined experience for both business users and customers.
As part of its modernization efforts, SRS incorporated AI-assisted development capabilities into four internal applications, including solutions supporting time tracking, field operations, customer hierarchy management, and finance-related processes. These capabilities helped accelerate application delivery while allowing developers to focus more on architecture, business requirements, and solution design.
