Introducing Agentic Loan Applications for consumer lending

Consumer lending is where a bank’s growth, cost, and competitive pressure come together. Customers start applications and never finish them, approvals take days, and digital-first lenders reach the same borrower faster and answer sooner.

OutSystems has launched Agentic Loan Applications, a pre-built agentic system that turns the loan application into a governed, agent-assisted flow. Agents take on the manual work between application and approval in structured, predefined workflows that a risk team can inspect and evaluate. The lending decision stays with the bank’s loan officers and the loan origination system the bank already runs.

The Agentic Loan Applications for Consumer Lending solution is now generally available on Forge.

Getting agentic AI into production in lending

Most banks have an AI agenda but very little is focused on customers. Governance, operational complexity, and integration are what these programs run into, and the market data reflects it:

The Agentic Loan Applications solution is a new way forward for your bank. It was created to introduce agents into the consumer lending experience to improve it. Ask a Head of Lending where funded volume leaks, and the answer is rarely credit policy. It’s what the borrower goes through to apply for a loan. The application is where the leak is biggest and the number is easiest to see. It is the first stage of lending that demands real effort from the borrower, and almost no one has made it work well with agent assistance.

Agentic Loan Applications: A governed lending experience assisted by agents

Agentic Loan Applications is a pre-built agentic system for consumer lending application processes and flows. The agents work as a system in production to improve the applicant experience and drive it to completion. The workflows are governed and evaluated. Enterprise integration and operational control are part of the system. Business rules stay configurable by the bank. Implementation is scoped to a single journey rather than a program.

The solution turns the front door of a bank’s highest-value relationship into a governed, agent-assisted experience as follows:

  • Agents perform the manual operational work between application and approval.
  • Loan officers keep the lending decision.
  • The loan origination system the bank already runs stays in place and receives the finished file.

As a result, applicants receive guidance from the first question to a prepared file. Documents are captured and verified in the flow. The applicant is screened. The complete application file is compiled and readied for the loan officer or the loan origination system to decide on.

The agent-assisted lending journey

Here is how the agent-guided experience runs, stage by stage:

  1. Guided application: Follows the product and the answers given, so applicants are asked only for what applies to them. The experience is built once and runs on web, iOS, and Android.
  2. Document capture: Documents are uploaded inside the flow, at the moment they are requested, from whatever device the applicant is using.
  3. Verification: Agents check each document against what the application requires and flag anything missing or unreadable while the applicant is still there to fix it.
  4. Screening: Agents run the screening steps the bank defines and record the results as part of the file.
  5. Exception handling: Cases outside the standard path are routed with their context attached, so whoever picks one up starts with the full picture.
  6. Application preparation: Data and documents are assembled into a complete file, without anyone re-keying across systems.
  7. Handover: The prepared application reaches the loan officer or the loan origination system, with the record of every step behind it.

Because of this experience, applicants finish more of what they start, because the work in front of them is guided and shorter. Loan officers open files that are already complete. Document chasing, re-keying, and hand-building come out of the middle. Applications reach a decision point sooner, with less administration behind each one.

In addition, throughout this process, the Agentic Loan Applications solution delivers the evidence that risk teams need.

Governed agentic AI for regulated lending

Governance is where agent projects in banks stop. The Agentic Loan Applications solution is built so that evidence exists by default.

With deterministic workflows, every step follows a defined path a reviewer can trace and inspect. Every agent action is recorded, producing audit trails that show what it did, when it ran, and what it acted on. Your bank can test agent behavior before release and after every transaction and add the results to agent evaluations. Role-based access controls and logs who can see and do what, using built-in identity.

In addition, the OutSystems platform is independently certified to SOC 2 Type II, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001, with the controls that regulated, internet-facing banking workloads require.

Most importantly, the solution produces no credit recommendation. Its outputs are screening results, verified documents, and a prepared application. The bank keeps the lending decision and the records that support it.

That is what gives a model risk review something to read. Fewer abandoned applications, complete applications sooner, and an evidence trail the risk team can work through.

Processes and flows your bank owns, on the systems you already run

The experience is owned the same way. The journey is configured to your bank’s products, brand, and segments, and it moves when the bank decides to move it.

The Agentic Loan Application solution works with the systems your bank already runs through connections to core banking, customer data, and operational systems. Existing customer processes and channels stay where they are, with the application journey connecting into them. Products, policies, rates, and business rules belong to your bank. After go-live, your bank owns the changes and their timeline. Changes to the journey ship without a backend release event.

Most importantly, your loan origination system stays, and it gets more valuable. The prepared file arrives complete and verified, so the LOS receives something ready to decide on instead of a raw application. The decision stays exactly where it lives today, with the bank’s officers and the LOS.

A bank can improve the application flow now and keep evolving it, progressively, while core systems change on their own schedule.
