Two G2 Spring 2026 reports feature OutSystems as a leader, including for the AI agent builder category. Let's explore why.
If you're not familiar with G2, it's a trusted business-to-business software marketplace and review platform. Customers visit G2 to share their experiences with platforms and solutions in all kinds of categories. G2 reports, published quarterly, look at user and customer ratings and comments, and combine that with other data to create a grid of leaders. With the inception of the AI agent builder category, G2 is now a great place to cut through the hype and noise around AI and agents and discover what’s really possible.
OutSystems is grateful to all the reviewers who propelled us into this G2 leadership position. It hasn’t been even close to a year since we released Agent Workbench, and already users have built thousands of agents with this capability.

What is an AI agent builder?
G2 defines AI agent builders as platforms designed to build, deploy, and manage autonomous AI agents integrated with a company's data ecosystem, business processes, and CRM systems. These platforms embed customizable agents directly into business workflows and data structures. They support proactive and reactive interactions, allowing agents to autonomously initiate workflows, respond to specific triggers, and escalate complex issues to human agents when needed.
To be included in the G2 AI agent builder category, a platform must meet these requirements:
- Use NLP or speech recognition to provide accurate, context-aware responses.
- Support tailoring the agent’s role, tone, and capabilities to fit specific workflows.
- Include reporting tools and dashboards to monitor agent performance.
- Enable smooth escalation of complex conversations to human agents.
- Support proactive task execution and independent workflow triggers.
- Maintain strict security, compliance, and data privacy protocols.
- Allow for modularity and the installation of third-party capabilities.
- Provide the ability to configure and set up agents using natural language.
OutSystems qualified for this category because the agents developed with OutSystems check all these boxes. Since Agent Workbench is part of the unified OutSystems platform, users can build custom agentic applications integrated into their enterprise architecture. Watch Kevin Hearn, SVP, Head of Consumer Bank Development at Axos Bank describe the benefits of that integration.
Why did OutSystems rank as a leader on G2 for AI agent builders?
Qualifying as a leader in this G2 category is a meaningful validation of our agentic features. According to G2, we earned this designation because 100% of our users believe we are headed in the right direction.
“I've been working with the OutSystems Platform for the last 19 years, and one thing they consistently pursued: To remove complexity from the entire Software Development Lifecycle. Things have just gotten AMAZINGLY better now with their AI initiatives, especially OutSystems Mentor and OutSystems Agent Workbench,” says Rafael P, OutSystems AI Specialist, a recent reviewer.
Developers can use Agent Workbench to address specialized functions across IT operations, HR, sales development, customer support, and beyond. They don’t need separate tools for building, deploying, and monitoring each agent with speed and agility.
“We can build web or mobile apps within a day. And it helps to maintain all the environments like development to production in one place. Now we can create Agentic AI agents in a few steps as well,” says Murali Manoharan V., developer.
How does Agent Workbench (the AI agent builder capability in OutSystems) compare to other vendors?
When you look at the satisfaction metrics, the gap between OutSystems and other major vendors becomes very clear. OutSystems currently leads the market with a G2 Net Promoter Score of 95. This significantly outpaces Microsoft Copilot Studio at 51, Salesforce Agent Builder at 50, and ServiceNow AI Agents at 47.
Those numbers reflect what happens when enterprise teams have one coherent environment to manage the full scope of their AI development work. Our customers are working in a single, governed platform that scales with them.
We achieved a 95% rating for contextual awareness, which is using AI and data to understand the specific situation of a software buyer or seller and then provide relevant tailored information. Customer reviews also drove a 91% rating for data privacy compliance. These scores confirm that enterprises trust OutSystems to deliver high-quality AI solutions without compromising reliability or security.
TravelEssence is one of those enterprises. TravelEssence is using OutSystems to blend AI with a human touch so it can offer hyper-personalized experiences to its customers. The team has already implemented an AI agent for automatically translating content and another for generating day summaries for clients' itineraries. Now with Agent Workbench, it’s working on a team of AI agents.
“OutSystems already makes development fast, but tools like Agent Workbench and Mentor take it to the next level. I don’t see these tools as a replacement of responsibilities, but as an upgrade to my role. They automate repetitive tasks, allowing me to focus on guiding the team and meeting business needs,” says João Mendes, tech lead on the OutSystems team at TravelEssence.

How does OutSystems sustain its position with customer reviews?
In other related news, the G2 Low-Code Development Platform Grid named us a leader for the ninth consecutive year with the highest customer satisfaction of all platforms in the category. An impressive 98% of users rated OutSystems with 4 or 5 stars this spring. This leadership reflects how customer teams at every skill level can use OutSystems to deliver production-ready applications grounded in full enterprise context.
Organizations can also iterate on applications much faster, thanks to modular design and fine-grained reusable components. “What I value most is its model-driven architecture, which accelerates full-stack development while still enforcing strong structure, scalability, and maintainability,” says Purusothaman N., a consultant.
The unified platform model is what makes this possible at scale. When developers, architects, and IT leaders all operate from the same environment, the benefits compound in significant ways. Teams iterate faster because they are not re-integrating tools between each step in the workflow. Governance strengthens because every agent, app, and workflow lives inside the same auditable structure. Organizations can respond to changing requirements without rebuilding foundational infrastructure from scratch.
“Agentic AI with governance, with security in place. So everything that a large enterprise is looking for now,” says Rafael P.
OutSystems and the future of AI agent development
AI sprawl is not going away on its own. Enterprises that keep adding isolated AI tools without a unifying platform risk growing fragility across their technology stack. The organizations pulling ahead are the ones developing AI agents with lifecycle governance, security, and integration built in from the start.
G2's AI agent builder category was created because the market recognized that deploying capable, enterprise-grade agents requires a conversational interface, integration with business systems, natural language configuration, human-in-the-loop escalation, security and compliance protocols, and the ability to build agents tailored to specific roles and workflows.
OutSystems delivers all of this in a single platform that your teams are already using to build and manage enterprise applications. That is what makes our leader designation meaningful. We are not a point solution for agent creation. We are the unified environment where enterprise AI comes to life and stays governable.
